Backstory

I was attempting to do something that would stand out in an agent's mind in the summer of 2005. So I thought up this story that's kind of "Nightmare on Elm Street" meets "The Notebook." Now there's a high concept.

Twenty years ago Max Caldwell went blind only to find he had the power to see and control other people's dreams. When he misuses this gift he accidentally kills his parents and spends twenty years in mental institutions, vowing never to use the power again.

When he's forced into the real world, he comes upon a woman in a coma named Sarah who suffered third-degree burns from a nasty fire. Because of this, her dreams feature violence that threatens to destroy her until Max intervenes to save her. Soon he's spending every waking moment at her bedside to create an alternate universe in her mind where she has everything she could ever want--except someone to spend this happiness with.

Until she meets Max in her dream world. The two of them find the happiness they never could in the real world, but soon events in that real world threaten to tear them apart.

Please enjoy "Higher Power..."
